Snoop Dogg performs at Caroline’s Cannabis in Uxbridge, takes pictures with fans

“So what we smoke weed, we’re just having fun. We don’t care who sees,” the crowd sang.

It wasn’t a normal track, though, as inside Caroline’s Cannabis, the D-O-Double-G mouthed the words into a microphone. Every so often he interrupted the music to plug Caroline’s Cannabis.

“It’s not everyday Snoop Dog is in your neighborhood,” he said.

The legendary rapper performed at the House of Blues in Boston on Monday and before returning to California he made a pit stop in Uxbridge to meet and greet fans at Caroline’s Cannabis.

At one point, Snoop offered those who purchased more than $100 at Caroline’s could potentially win a smoking session with him. While none of it occurred Tuesday, Snoop opened the door for a possibility in the future.

“I will be back in this motha,” Snoop Dogg said.

The meet and greet with fans was scheduled to last an hour and begin at 4 p.m. However, Snoop didn’t exit his black tour bus until around 4:30 p.m. After about 30 minutes of posing with fans inside Caroline’s Cannabis, some of his hits played through the speaker as he rapped the occasional lyric.

Some of his favorite songs also played including Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” which fit perfectly in Central Massachusetts at a cannabis store named after Caroline Frankel, who opened the first independent woman-owned marijuana business east of the Mississippi.

“Caroline worked her tail off for this,” her husband Steve said. “A mom and pop shop. We’re not rich. She worked her (butt) off for this. Did what she could do and made a fantastic brand for herself.”

Fans of Snoop and Caroline’s Cannabis began arriving prior to 3 p.m. and formed a line shortly after. Some brought albums. Others carried music equipment. Valerie Allen of Uxbridge held a Pittsburgh Steelers “Terrible Towel” for Snoop, a loyal Steelers fan, to sign for her 15-year-old son.

Allen, who wore a Pittsburgh sweatshirt, admitted she’s not a fan of neither the team, nor the rapper, but endured the cold for family.

“I don’t know too much about Snoop Dogg. I’m older,” Allen said. “I am an imposter faking it.”

Others in the line mouthed every lyric to his songs that played in anticipation of his arrival.

One fan brought an enormous inflatable blunt. Another recently engaged couple from Palmer held a sign that read, “She said ‘Fo-Shizzle.’”

Kyle Camyre and Sarah MacKay were engaged in December and attended Snoop Dogg’s show Monday night in Boston. Having not yet experienced engagement photos, the idea emerged last night, perhaps Snoop Dogg could appear in their photos.

The picture didn’t happen, however, Camyre offered Snoop his necklace, a piece of art he created. Carmyre, with a smile spanning ear to ear, said the rapper accepted the necklace, making the wait in the frigid cold worth it.

Fans that arrived earlier were able to take a picture with Snoop Dogg and will be able to pick up the photo at a later date at Caroline’s Cannabis.

“It was an amazing day,” Steve Frankel said. “Just an absolute amazing day. Customer appreciation day for all of our customers.”

Steve Frankel said they had “some connections” to Snoop Dogg to get him to appear at Caroline’s Cannabis.

By the time Snoop Dogg left, the sun had set and hundreds of people had visited the Uxbridge dispensary.

Melissa Constantineau of Uxbridge left for Caroline’s Cannabis as soon as her friend told her the rapper would appear.

She wasn’t missing the opportunity to see Snoop Dogg in the small town of Uxbridge.

“I got to put my arm around him and hug him,” Constantineau said. “Oh my god it was awesome. Absolutely awesome. Uxbridge doesn’t get stuff like this.”
